The dots from the sumac berries to me symbolize eyes all over. They symbolize the scatteredness of being nowhere & everywhere. The liminal space of being on no side. “Only God.”

I choose to create a non uniform & randomized dye design with a few hearts found placed over the left chest to symbolize “Sometimes organization & computation become absurd.” I absolutely love the free flow experience that natural dyeing brings & the surrender it asks of you to the way in which it turns out.

To me this poem resembles simple, silence, & solitude so I made it one color with a slight variation in the shade to embrace the simplicity of the natural color of brown.
