Plant Dyes vs. Synthetic Dyes
Why should you invest in clothing that has been dyed with all natural plant dyes over clothing that has been dyed with synthetic dyes??
Do you remember my recent post on what synthetic fibers do to you over natural fibers such as linen?
Well it is a very similar effect that synthetic dyes have on our bodies & the environment!
Synthetic dyes are full of chemicals & heavy metals such as lead, mercury, chromium, & formaldehyde.
Your skin is the largest organ of the body & absorbs what is placed on it, meaning you are absorbing some of these chemicals from not only the synthetic fibers that are full of plastic & chemicals but also the chemicals found in the synthetic dyes.
So why are natural fibers & plant dyes better?
They are natural, meaning they come from the earth in forms of plants, flowers, & minerals.
They are not only non-toxic & harmless, but can actually be nourishing!
Plant dyes (& natural fibers) are 100% biodegradable!
They utilize much much much less energy in production, since there are many methods for natural dyeing percentages haven’t been consistently recorded though some techniques have found to reduce co2 emissions by up to 90% compared to synthetic dyes!!!
Yallllll, back in the day everything was natural fibers & plants dyes.
In the mid 19th century synthetic fibers & dyes were created and have become widely used due to the quick creation & low cost.
But guess what!!!!
Quick & cheap almost always has repercussions.
I believe if people knew what it takes to create clothing, they would understand that cheap prices means having a detrimental effect on someone or something down the line.
What would it look like if we chose to invest in high quality natural fibers, & naturally dyed clothing, knowing it is not only nourishing ourselves & those around us but also the earth?
Pieces you would cherish for generations 💕
At sown of the earth all garments are 100% organic linen & are hand dyed with all natural plant dyes ❤️🔥🌹❤️🔥
